Teaching aims and learning objectives教学目标:

1 The students can gain proficiency in the knowledge of Unit 6~8 in certain contexts.

2 The students can understand and differentiate reusing and recycling things

3 The students can have strong aware of the environmental protection.

Focus of the lesson教学重点:

1 The students can gain proficiency in the knowledge of Unit 6~8 in certain contexts.

2 The students can understand and differentiate reusing and recycling things。This point is very important. If the students cant understand and differentiate reusing and recycling things, they cant finish part A of Project 2 well after classes. And reuse and recycle are the words whose meaning are similar.

Predicted area of difficulty教学难点:

Teaching procedures教学过程:

Step1 Free talk

1 Greeting

Key words: Date, day, weather, mood, festival…

What, Why, When, Where, Who, How…

(The students should have more chances to speak and to show their expericence in English study, I think. And talking in group makes them more relaxed. So, the students will have 5 minutes to talk.

And I give them some key words. Maybe they will talk about festival. And I will talk about festival too.)

2 There is a very popular festival in China. It’s coming soon.

What festival is it?

When is it in 2015?

(What festival is it? Its easy. When is it in 2015? It's not very easy. But its not important. Ijust want review Unit 8 from here. And we will talk about Spring Festival by a mind map.)

Step2 Review U8

1. Draw and talk.

Do you have a plan for Spring Festival?

Can you draw a mind map like this and talk in your groups?

 

 

 

 

 

eg.  I’m going to watch firecrackers on Chinese New Year’s Eve.

(We use the sentence pattern Im going to …” to talk in group. But students need to write down the key words at first.)

2 Report the plan of your group.

  We usually spend the holiday of Spring Festival with our family.

Do you want to spend the Spring Festival with your friends? If you will spend the festival with your friends, what can you do together?

Talk about your plan and draw a line under the same plans.

We’re going to ____ ____________ _________.

(Then the Ss will report the same plans in class with the sentence pattern We are going to…”)

3 Let’s enjoy the pictures.

(Up to now, the Ss have learned in a relaxed atmosphere. They are happy and relaxed. But from those pictures, they will feel different. The contrast may let the Ss remember profoundly, I think.)

Step3 Review U6~7

1 What do you want to say about those pictures?

(1) Match and write

(2) Read your sentences in your groups

(First, let me make an example. Next, let some Ss make some sentences in class. Then work in groups, everyone write some sentences on the slips of paper and stick them on a piece of big paper. At last show the paper and check the answers in class, and read them. From those sentences we all know that we should protect the earth and keep our city clean. But how? )

2 Let’s protect the earth. Let’s keep our city clean.

But how? Let’s think and draw.

      How many ideas do you have? Please write down all of your ideas. Work in groups.

(The Ss talk in groups first, then one student write the key words on the mind map, the others write sentenses on the slips and stick them. The Ss may say they should reuse But they may not say recycle So, next, we will supply more ideas. Just like, we should reuse water. We should recycle  old paper)

    3 To protect the earth, to keep our city clean, we also can reuse something and recycle something. Let’s try to know something about reusing and recycling.

Reuse: to use something again; to use again after processing

Recycle: to treat things that have already been used so that they can be used again; cause to repeat a cycle; to use again after processing

3  What are reusing things? What are recycling things? Let’s try to know more from Environmental protection.

(This part, the Ss can try to know them by themselves at first, I think. So, I wont explain something here. But we will have an example next. )

4  For example: We can reuse old paper. We can reuse old paper to make a paper wreath. We can recycle old paper. We can recycle old paper to make recycled paper. Do you know fiftty kilos of recycled paper can save one tree? So, boys and girls, let's reuse and recycle something. Dont waste resource. To protect the earth, let's do it now.

So, first, lets find some photos about reusing and recycling things on the Internet.

You can do it after classes.

Remember, stick them on page101.

(And if you want to know more, you can read the article after classes.)

Step 5 Homework:

1 Write a short passage about protecting the earth, six sentences at least.

2 Read the article about reducing, reusing and recycling.

3 Find some photos about reusing and recycling things on the Internet. Stick them on page 101.
