Unit 5  Signs (Period 1)

 一、Teaching contents教学内容:

Story time

 二、Teaching aims and learning objectives教学目标:

 1.Knowledge & skills objectives:

(1) Ss can listen, read and understand some new words like sign, careful, mean, litter, shopping center, restaurant etc.

(2) Ss can listen, read , understand and try to use some phrases like No eating, No drinking, No smoking, Wet floor and talk the meanings of the signs in different Ways.

(3) Ss can fluently read and get the meaning of the whole story.

(4) Ss can try to talk about signs in our life.

 2.Process & method objectives:

(1) Ss can try to design some signs for the video and talk about it in  

this way: What does it mean? It means…

(2) Ss can can get some information from reading the story and develop

their reading skills and cooperative skills.

3.Emotion, attitude & value objectives:

(1) Ss can try to know some signs in their life and follow some rules in public.

三、Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty教学重难点:

1.Ss can fluently read and get the meaning of the whole story.

2.Ss can try to talk about the signs with these sentences:What does it mean? It   

means…

3.Ss can use different ways to express the meanings of the signs like No+v.ing, You can’t…, n.

4.Ss can try to know some signs in their life and follow some rules in public.

五、Teaching procedures教学过程:

Step1 Warming up

Today I’m your new English teacher. Before we learn the new lesson,first ,let’s look what do we learn today.

1.Learning aims:

(1) After class, you can read the text .

(2)you can act the dialogue.

(3) you can try to talk about some public signs.

T: If  you can do them very well, you can get three stars.

Step2 Pre-reading

1.Learn the names of the signs:

(1) T: Today is the … of  October. We know National Day is in October. What did you do for the National Day holiday?

S:  I.... . 问2-3个人即可

(2) T: Guess what did I do for the holiday? Look, I went traveling. And I took a lot of photos.

(3) T: Do you want to see my photos? Let’s have a look!

(4) T: Look at my pictures and think “ What can you see in the pictures?”

(5) (PPT圈出照片中标志,引导学生说出答案) 由此揭示本课课题。S:We can see signs.

(6) T:Yes, Today we’ll learn Unit5 Signs. 带读signs 若干遍。

(7) T: What signs are they? You can discuss in groups.  

T: No.1, what sign is it?

S: It’s No smoking.

T: Yes, No,2, what sign ...?

(由此教学剩余的2标志名称)

学习四个标志名称。1跟读,2注意元音。3找几个小组开火车读

带读标志注意wet 中et的发音和get中et一致,注意littering 中i的发音,有小组齐读也有单个学生的朗读。

2. Brain storm

T: Now we know the names of the signs.But where can we see them? Maybe we can see No smoking in the cinema. Maybe we can see wet floor in the school. Now let’s discuss in groups.  

S1: I can see ...in ... S2: I can see ...in ... S3: I can see ...in ... S4: I can see ...in ...

T: Good .Beside these, we also can see them in the shopping centre and the restaurant.

(带读shopping centre and the restaurant.)请小组齐读,请一个个读。

Step3 While reading

1. Find the places.

T:Today Mike ,Helen and Tim are at a shopping centre.

But where do they go in the shopping centre?Let’s go with them.

(看后继续问)But where do they go in the shopping centre? Let’s talk about it.

S: At first they go to a juice shop,then they go to a bookshop. At last they go to a restaurant.

T&S:(教师指着板书,整体带着学生说一遍) Yes,they go to the...

2. Find the signs

T: What signs can they see in the shopping centre?   

Maybe they can see No smoking in the juice shop or in the restaurant?

You can open your books and find the answer in the pictures.

S: I can see... in the...

T&S: 教师指着板书,整体带着学生说一遍,they can see wet floor in the shopping centre, they can see no littering in the juice shop, they can see no eating or drinking in the bookshop,and they can see no smoking in the restaurant.

3. Learn the meaning of the signs

T:We know the names of the signs, but what do the signs mean?(跟读mean)

T: Look ! What does it mean? (手指标志图片)You can answer like this: It means...

S:

介绍规则:you can talk about in groups .Try to say more places.

学习新地点2个: Yes,except these,we also can see them in the shopping centre and the restaurant.

Today,Helen,Mike and Tim they are in a shopping centre. But where do they go in the shopping centre? Let’s go with them.(看视频,找出去的地点)

T: Where do they go in the shopping centre?

S: At first, they go to the juice shop, then they go to the bookshop, at last they go to the restaurant.

Yes, they go to the juice shop,bookshop,and the restaurant. But what signs can they see in the shopping centre? You can open your books, try to find the signs in the four pictures.

S: They can see no smoking in the shopping centre,

they can see no littering in the juice shop,

they can see no eating or drinking in the bookshop,

and they can see no smoking in the restaurant.

看着板书齐说一遍,T:Yes,they can see four signs here. But what do the signs mean?(带读mean)

Look at the four signs, maybe you can ask like this: what does it mean?

It means…(贴板书句型).

Task1. Read the text by yourselves, and underline the meaning of each signs.

2 Talk about the meaning in your groups.

T:What does it mean?

S:It means…

(核对答案)(看板书齐说答案一遍)

Step 4 Practice

1.Read the story.

Today we’re learning Unit5 signs ,now it’s time for reading. Let’s read after the tape.

(1)跟录音读一遍;according to the test, please think about it, what do they mean?(指出take ,…into,和smell)

(2)齐读课文一遍 

(3)Ticking time:打三个星

2.Act the story.

(1) 介绍规则T: Now please act the story. 

You can choose one picture to act.

And discuss the roles quickly, one is the narrator, others can be Mike Tim or Helen.

Please pay attention to the pronunciation and the action.

(2)小组操练并表演。For example:

针对表演打三个星。

Step5 Consolidation 

Show time.

(1)T: Today we know the signs. The signs can tell us what we should do ,and what we shouldn’t do.Resently, there was a video in CCTV. Do you want to watch it? Let’s enjoy.

(2) T: Are they good pandas? No,they aren’t. Because they didn’t behave well.

Now we want to make a new video, to tell people to be a good citizen.Can you help them?

(3)Now open your envelopes, you can find some pictures. Please fill in the blanks. And then share your pictures in your groups.

We will choose some good pictures in the video. Let’s begin.

(4)T: What sign is it? What does it mean?

S:…..

T: Ok, we will accept your picture.

(5)T: Now, our video is ready. Let’s watch our video!

Step6 Home work:

1.Read and copy the whole story.

2.Review the meaning of the signs and find more signs around us.
