Unit1 The King’s new clothes

(Story time)

1. Lead in

T: Hello, boys and girls! Let’s start our lesson. OK?

Ss: OK!

T: First, let’s have a guessing game. Here’s a word which ends with “ing” . Can you guess what it is?

Ss: sing/ ring/ wing/ bring/ dinning ..

T: Good try! Let me give you a hint. He is a man who rules a county.

S: He is a king.

T: Good job! What do you think of a king?

S: Cool/ Powerful/ Clever ...

T: Today we’ll read a story about a king. He is different. He likes new clothes very much. Can you guess the name of the story?

S: The king’s new cloths.

T: Bingo! You are so clever.

2. While- reading

1) Watch and order

T: Here are four pictures of the story. Please watch the cartoon and put them in the right order.

Ss:...

T: Did you enjoy the story? Great! Let’s put the four pictures in the right order. Which is the first one?

Ss:...

T: From the four pictures, we can see the main plot of the story. Would you like to read more about it?

Ss:Yes.

T: Wonderful!

2) Listen and answer

T: Please listen to the audio and answer the following questions.

3) Read and complete

T: Now, open your books and read the story in picture1. And try to complete the following passage.

Long long ago, there ____ a king. He ____ new clothes. One day, two men ____ the king. “ My king, we can make new clothes for you.” The king ____ happy.

T:Have you finished? Who wants to read it for us?

S: ...

T: Look at the words we just completed. They are different, right?

Ss: Yes.

T: They are the in the past tense. Let’s get to know something about it.

一般过去时表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态,常和yesterday,...ago, last... 等表示过去的时间状语连用。一般情况下,在动词的后边加-ed.如 like-liked,visit-visited. Be动词属特殊变化,is/am-was  are-were.

 

4) Read and complete

T: A few days later, the two men showed the king his new clothes. Let’s go and have a look.

T: Look! The king is trying on his new clothes. Does he look happy?

S:No.

T:What are the two men saying to him? Please read the story in picture2 and complete the following mind map.

                            _______ people can’t see them.

 

T: Here are two new words. Clever --ever, foolish --- food, fish.

5) Look and say

T: Do you believe it?

Ss: No.

T: Does the king believe it?

Ss: Yes.

T: So the king walked through the city in his new clothes. Look! There are a lot of people in the street. They looked at the king and shouted. Let’s listen to them.

T: Can you imitate it?

S: What beautiful clothes!

T: What else would they shout? Can you guess?

S:...

6)Read , circle and act

T: The people said lots of nice words to the king. Did they tell the truth?

Ss:No.

T: Was there anyone who told the truth?

Ss: Yes.

T: Then who?

S: A little boy.

T: This is the little boy. Look at him! What actions did he do? Please read the story in picture4 and circle the boy’s actions.

T: Have you finished?

S: Pointed at the king and laughed.

T:Good job! Let’s act this part. One is the narrator and the other is the boy. You have two minutes to prepare it.

7)Think and say

T: You all acted very well. If you were really there , what would you say to the king?

T: Great! You chose the honesty way. After all, honesty is the best policy.

8) Read and judge

T: Now, let’s read the whole story again and judge the following sentences.

9) Write and act

T: You all knew the story very well. Let’s act the whole story. Here is the drama. But it is not completed. Can you help to complete it?

Ss: Sure.

1. Long long ago, there was a king. He liked new clothes.

--- I like new clothes. Who can make new clothes for me?

 

2. One day, two men visited the king.

--- My king , we can make new clothes for you.

--- Clever people can see them. Foolish people can’t see them.

--- Really? Make the new clothes for me.

 

3. A few days later, the two men showed the king his new clothes.

--- My king, please try on the new clothes.

--- Do they fit?

--- Oh, yes. They fit very well.

 

4. The king walked through the city in his new clothes, There were a lot of people in the street.

--- Look at the king’s new clothes.

--- They’s so beautiful.

--- Ha! Ha! The king isn’t wearing any clothes.

T: Well done. The drama is ready. Let’s act it in groups. You have five minutes to prepare.
